Crow and persimmons

Somehow this stark image of a crow amongst persimmons (I photoshopped it from a photo I took as I was walking the dog around the block this morning) made me wonder—was it was some kind of symbol or omen?

So I Googled 'crow persimmon symbolism' and found that there is a Chinese pun

鸦柿 ya1 shi4 'crow and persimmons' and
雅士 ya3 shi4 'men of refined taste'
